Animal/Anima
About
Artists often use animals as subject matter to explore the relationship between animals and humans( who also belong to the animal world ) .
Judge’s Statement
Judging the Animal/Anima show was an exciting challenge, as there was an abundance of excellent works submitted. I wanted to highlight works that were not only technically impressive, but also engaged with the more nuanced and mysterious aspects of the prospectus: Animal/Anima. The works that I chose ultimately engaged with animals as a way to speak about larger ideas around the soul and humans’ connection to nature.
JUDGE: EMILY JAY, Assistant professor of Art Ohio Northern University. MFA- Bowling Green State University.
