The Fiber show showcases the unique art of fiber artists. Fiber art is varied the pieces in this show included wearable art, wall art and 3D forms.
Judge’s Statement
Upon entering the gallery, I was immediately impressed with the variety of fiber art that filled the space. The materials I spied ranged from soft wools to natural vines, from chunky yarns to delicate threads and from brightly colored yardage to subtle hand dyed designs.
Consider how the wool fibers that became the whimsical mouse were also used to create a nearby relief sculpture whose tendrils appeared to reach out and grab the viewer. Notice that the wearables became three dimensional sculptures destined for movement and were in contrast to the smaller, intimate wall pieces filled with expressive handatitches and beads. Finally, realize that the requisite skills were also varied as well. A wonderful show! …Judy Kahle,Judge
